The following phases are performed each turn, even if nothing is actively done on a particular phase. A response is allowed between every separate phase.
1. Draw Phase You draw three (3) cards and add them to your hand. Lost Souls are placed in territory. For each Lost Soul you place in your territory, draw another card.
2. Upkeep Phase You must change counters if needed.
3. Preparation Phase You may perform any number of these actions in any order. Actions may be repeated unless a limit is stipulated:
Place a character (cross or dragon icon) into your territory.
Place an artifact, covenant, or curse face down in your artifact pile.
Activate an artifact, covenant, or curse by placing an artifact it face up on your artifact pile (limit once per turn).
Place a site into your territory.
Place a Lost Soul into a site.
Set aside a character.
Return a character from your set-aside area and place it back into your territory.
Place a weapon-class enhancement on a warrior-class character in your territory.
Place a fortress on the table as described on the fortress. At this time its special ability becomes active.
Place or remove a card in a fortress as described on the fortress.
4. Battle Phase Follow these steps in order:
a. You may begin a rescue attempt or battle challenge by placing a Hero into the Field of Battle. If you make a rescue attempt or battle challenge, go to step b. Otherwise, skip to the Discard

2) Hero enters Field of Battle
3) Activate special ability on Hero
4) Activate gained abilities
5) Activate weapon-class abilities
6) Activate banding abilities
7) Activate choose the blocker abilities
8) Activate special abilities triggered by the beginning of battle
9) Declaration of intent (i.e., battle challenge or rescue attempt)
b. Your opponent may block your Hero by placing an Evil Character into the Field of Battle.
c. Check for initiative. The player with initiative may play an enhancement (or pass if allowed). Repeat this step as necessary.
d. Resolve the rescue attempt or battle challenge (battle resolution).
1) End of battle (no more enhancements can be played)
2) End of battle or final battle outcome abilities trigger
3) Transfer Lost Soul from Land of Bondage to Land of Redemption
4) Return characters to territory; discard enhancements in the Field of Battle
5) Discard characters below */0
6) Add experience Credit
7) Ongoing abilities still active end, unless another endpoint is specified
5. Discard Phase You may perform any number of these actions in any order. Actions may be repeated:
Place a character (cross or dragon icon) into your territory.
Place an artifact, covenant, or curse face down in your artifact pile.
Place a site into your territory.
Set aside a character.
Place a weapon-class enhancement on a warrior-class character in your territory.
Place a fortress on the table. At this time its special ability becomes

When you have performed all of these actions that you wish, you must decrease your hand to eight (8) cards or less. Discard cards from your hand if necessary. This ends your turn.
