When a rescue attempt or battle challenge is resolved, the battle is over. There are four outcomes that end a battle:
• If a rescue attempt is unchallenged, the Hero goes across to the Land of Bondage, gets the lost soul, and brings it back to the Land of Redemption®. At that point, the Hero has returned to his/her territory and the rescue attempt is resolved. This is practically settled when the lost soul changes hands (opponent to player).
• If a rescue attempt is challenged, the battle must be resolved. If the blocker is successful, it is resolved when the Hero passes. The practical point of interest is the last utterance of the word ‘pass’.
• If a rescue attempt is challenged and the Hero is successful in defeating the Evil Character, the Evil Character is practically removed from battle first and then Case 1 is played out. The battle isn’t resolved until the lost soul has been transferred.
• If a battle challenge is made, no matter who wins, Case 2 is played out. The point at which the battle resolves is when the last person utters, ‘pass’. No lost soul is in question, so the fight itself being resolved defines the end of battle.
