A card is activated when its special ability can be put to use. Characters and enhancements can only be activated when put into the Field of Battle. However, some other cards can be activated while in the Field of Play. Special abilities on characters that read “while in play” or” until discarded” are activated in battle and remain active after the battle as long as the character is not discarded, removed from the game, or returned to a draw pile.
