Discard and/or Remove are effects that eliminate cards from play. Removed cards are treated like discarded cards but cannot be used again in the game. Discarded cards can be returned to the game by special abilities that target them. The cards being discarded are placed face up on the top of the owner’s discard pile. Removed cards are placed outside the game. Once a card is discarded, it cannot be reintroduced into the game unless another card’s special abilities instruct this to happen. Cards discarded return to face value. Some discard cards have an immediate effect and some have a delayed effect. Some affect only one card and others may affect many cards. Cards in play may not be voluntarily discarded. Another card must be played in battle that allows the card(s) to be discarded.
