The following may happen when discarding a site:
• If the site held a Lost Soul, place the Lost Souls in the corresponding Land of Bondage.
• If the site was in battle, the rescue attempt may turn into a battle challenge and the site may optionally be replaced by the attacker with a site already in the attacker’s territory (this does not require initiative).
• The site may be unoccupied and is simply discarded.
Access sites are not discarded automatically when the Hero using the site is discarded. The site would return to your territory at the end of the battle unless a card specifically instructs that it be discarded. Characters are not discarded if protected from harm or effect (e.g., Ignore or Repel on page 6 or Immune on page 8).
